Students interested in accounting and finance programs at Wake Technical Community College have several degrees, diplomas, and certificates available. Wake Technical Community College is a community college located in Wake County, North Carolina. Campuses exist throughout the county, and more than 74,000 students are enrolled in classes throughout the system. The college’s official colors are navy blue and gold, and the official mascot is named Talon the Eagle. There are nine varsity sports teams at the college, and they play in National Junior College Athletic Association games.
The college was initially chartered in 1958 and was called Wake County Industrial Education Center. The college began offering classes in 1963, with 304 students enrolled in the first class. The majority of students were enrolled in industrial training programs. Wake Technical Community College Application Requirements
The application and enrollment process begins with the completion of the North Carolina Residency Determination form for prospective students who live in North Carolina. Students will then proceed with the online admission form from the college and will create an official account with the college’s website. Applicants must then submit official high school transcripts or documents from an equivalent program like a GED.
For health sciences programs, students must also submit college transcripts. After applying to the college, students will apply for financial aid. Before enrollment, students will make an appointment with a college advisor to choose classes for the semester, as well as attend an orientation session. Students who want to enroll in a class but not seek an official degree or certificate will submit a different application, and international students will also need to submit additional materials.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Wake Technical Community College charges tuition based on a student’s residency status. North Carolina residents pay a lower rate than out-of-state and international students. In-state tuition is $76.00 per credit, and the college also charges some additional fees. Each credit features a $3.00 computer use fee, and students will also pay overall fees each semester of $35.00 for a student activity fee and $85.00 for a campus access fee.
For a full course load of 12 credits, in-state residents will pay $1,068.00 per semester. One credit is $199.00 when all fees are added to the total. Meanwhile, out-of-state tuition starts at $268.00 per credit, and non-resident students will also pay the same fees as resident students. The full cost of one credit is $391.00 for out-of-state students, and a full course load of 12 credits is $3,372.00.
Students can qualify for federal financial aid when they submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid by the final deadline of June 1st for fall semester enrollment. Students should be aware that receiving financial aid is dependent on the college having received the student’s official transcripts. Students without a high school diploma from an accredited institution may have trouble qualifying for financial aid.
A financial aid award from the college may include grants, scholarships, and offers of student employment through the federal Work-Study program.
