Finance and Accounting Programs at Notre Dame

The Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame ranks as one of the top business schools in the world. It offers degree programs designed for both undergrads and graduate students. Its undergrad accountancy program features courses such as Corporate Financial Reporting, Accounting Measurement and Disclosure, Ethics in Accounting and Audit and Assurance Services. Notre Dame also allows accounting majors to transition into its graduate program and complete the minimum number of credits needed to take the CPA exam. Its undergrad finance program includes a number of courses such as Corporate Financial Management, Investment Theory, Real Estate Fundamentals and Land Use Policy and Practice.
Graduate students can earn a Master of Science in either Accountancy or Finance through the Mendoza College of Business. The accountancy program prepares students for seeking jobs with the big four accounting firms and for working in smaller firms or on their own. They can enroll in a track that focuses on assurance and advisory services or tax services. Those who pick the tax services track will work with real clients in local tax clinics. All accountancy students will take classes that include Negotiation, Financial Management and Accounting for Managers and Acquisitions.
The university’s MS in Finance program requires that students take classes on its satellite campus in Chicago, which puts them close to top accounting firms. This program features 35 credits and allows students to take those courses over a single year. The University of Notre Dame also offers Master of Business Administration programs with concentrations and tracks in finance and accounting.

University of Notre Dame Accreditation Details
The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCACS) granted accreditation to Notre Dame. This is a form of regional accreditation and applies to all the programs offered by the university. It not only allows students to transfer credits from another school into a program of their choosing, but it also allows them to apply for financial aid. The finance and accounting programs available from ND have accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) too.
University of Notre Dame Application Requirements
Less than 20% of the undergrads who apply to Notre Dame will receive an acceptance letter from the university. It receives more than 20,000 applications. Nearly 90% of accepted students graduated within the top 90% of their high school classes and scored at least 1410 on the SAT. Prospective students can use either the Common Application or the Coalition Application. Once they create accounts on those sites, they can apply to both Notre Dame and other schools. Both applications ask students to provide a writing supplement that demonstrates their writing skills.
Students who want to major in a business field must list that major on their applications. The university will notify students if they can take classes through its business school. Some students may need to take prerequisites and some required general education courses before they can take any business classes. Undergrads will also submit their official high school transcripts and test scores. Prospective undergrads must pay a $75 application fee and submit an evaluation letter from a high school teacher. The university encourages students to submit a counselor evaluation form too.
The university’s graduate business programs have different requirements in addition to the online application. Those students must submit official transcripts and a score from the GMAT. They must also list all the business courses they took before enrolling and submit a valid and up to date resume. The university asks for an essay with an attached photograph and two letters of recommendation also. Students can submit photos that show some of their favorite hobbies and interests outside of accounting or finance. The university asks students to write an essay about their passions and how their interests can help them in business school and in the future.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The basic cost of attendance at the University of Notre Dame is more than $53,000 a year for undergrads. This figure includes only the tuition charged by the university. Undergrads are still responsible for room and board and other expenses that come out to more than $20,000 a year. Graduate students will pay nearly $53,000 a year in tuition alone. They are also responsible for covering their expenses, which can add more than $20,000 to their annual costs.
Around 75% of all undergrads receive financial aid from ND, while at least half of all incoming freshmen receive aid packages. The university awards more than $140 million in scholarships every year. Some of these are need-based scholarships that go to students with financial problems, but the university also awards merit scholarships to the best incoming freshmen. Students can submit scholarships applications directly to Notre Dame.
Notre Dame undergrads can also apply for federal aid when they use the FAFSA. Undergrads typically take out a little more than $4,000 in federal loans during their freshmen years. Graduate students can also borrow student loans from the federal government.
