Master of Science in Finance
The Master of Science in Finance is offered in a blended format designed for working adults that combines on-campus learning with online classes. Students learn from faculty who are accomplished scholars who help them deepen their business and technical financial skills. Graduates are able to value stocks, bonds, and derivatives. They also understand how to evaluate corporate investment as well as the importance of ethics in decision-making. About Georgetown University
Georgetown University is the oldest Jesuit university in the country, founded by John Carroll in 1789. Carroll secured 60 acres of land overlooking the village of Georgetown and classes began in 1792. Carroll was appointed Archbishop of Baltimore in 1808 and, in 1817, the school awarded its first bachelor’s degrees.
The Civil War almost closed the school as enrollment dropped from 313 to 17 between the years of 1859 and 1861. In total, over 1,100 students and alumni enlisted, serving in both the Union and Confederate armies. Several buildings were turned into temporary hospitals after the Second Battle of Bull Run in Manassas. In an effort to unite after the war, the school chose the colors blue and gray which represented the colors of each army.
Today, there are over 19,000 students enrolled at Georgetown University. US News & World Report ranks the school 22nd among national universities and fifth in best colleges for veterans.
Georgetown University Accreditation Details
Georgetown University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Accreditation demonstrates to parents, students, and employers that graduates are well prepared for careers in their chosen field. The school undergoes periodic review to confirm that they continue to meet standards set forth by the Commission and agrees to address any areas that are identified as needing improvement.
The Law Center is accredited by the American Bar Association and the McDonough School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The School of Continuing Studies is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation while the School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.

Georgetown University Application Requirements
In order to apply to attend Georgetown, applicants must complete the Georgetown Application which requires a school report and teacher recommendation. Applicants must also submit official SAT or ACT scores. Students who have earned college credit after high school graduation may apply to Georgetown as a transfer student. Applicants must complete the Recommendation Request Forms for the Secondary School Report, Dean’s Report and Professor’s Report. In addition, applicants must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
Graduate programs have specific admission criteria but all applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Applicants are encouraged to speak to a graduate admissions counselor before applying.
Georgetown University Tuition and Fees
Full-time undergraduate tuition is $26,760 per semester or $2,230 per credit hour. Graduate tuition is $2,065 per credit hour. More than half of the undergraduates at Georgetown University receive some type of financial aid. Aid is determined by subtracting what the student’s family is responsible to pay from the total cost of attendance. Family responsibility is determined based on information provided by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the CSS profile and federal tax returns.
Each student is required to complete the FAFSA and the form must be renewed each year. Financial aid may be in gift form, including scholarships and grants or it may be in the form of loans. Most students receive a financial package which is a combination of both. It is important to remember that loans must be repaid. Some students are offered work-study programs which provide employment to offset the cost of tuition.
