At D.J. Bordini Center, the Business & Industry Services Division offers a 63-credit, 24-month Accounting AAS for full-time Fox Valley Technical College Foxes to achieve 100 percent job placement after lower-division courses like Advanced Payroll and Income Tax costing just $10,257 total. Chaired by Prof. Amy Pietsch, the Banking & Financial Services AAS builds a 62-credit, HLC-accredited curriculum with a 2+2 transfer track to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay after daytime or evening courses, such as Credit Procedures, and 144 internship hours. The Accounting Assistant Technical Diploma follows a 33-credit, one-year path online 24/7 on Blackboard or face-to-face at six campuses for QuickBooks certification after classes like Advanced Spreadsheets. Directed by Prof. Mark Burwell, the Fundamental of Financial Fraud Detection Certificate lays the groundwork for CFE certification with a short 16-credit sequence of Appleton and online courses. There’s also an Individualized Technical Studies AAS available.
About Fox Valley Technical College
Fox Valley Technical College originated in 1911 when the Wisconsin Legislature passed Rep. Charles McCarthy’s bill to require trade schools in communities with over 5,000 residents. In 1912, two such regional institutes popped up for Appleton and Oshkosh. In 1961, both schools were authorized to deliver two-year associate degrees. In 1967, they were combined into the Fox Valley Technical Institute. In 1972, Appleton was chosen as the Fox Valley Technical Institute’s headquarters. On March 27, 1974, Fox Valley was granted initial regional accreditation. Four years later, it expanded with the Wautoma Regional Center. By 1980, enrollment at FVTI had doubled. In 1982, the Oshkosh Riverside Campus was erected on Campbell Road for “Sawdust City” citizens. In 1987, the Fox Valley Technical College name was finally adopted. In 1993, FVTC joined the Wisconsin Technical College System. In 2014, Fox Valley started hosting its Annual BizSquad Report with 20 local businesses.
Budgeting $24.5 million yearly, Fox Valley Technical College now employs 1,221 faculty teaching nearly 50,000 Foxes, including 8,000 degree-declared students, online or at its 14 Central Wisconsin locations with 45+ organizations like Accounting Club for 73 percent retention. In 2003, FVTC won the Institute of International Education’s Heiskell Award. In 2017, Fox Valley had the AITP Sherry Anklam Memorial Award recipient. Fox Valley Technical College accepted a 2019 Gold Military Friendly School Award from Victory Media too. Niche ranked FVTC for America’s fourth-best community college education. WalletHub placed Fox Valley 29th for education outcomes and 304th for tuition value. The National Council Licensure Examination crowned FVTC the #1 college nationally. PayScale noticed FVTC for the 285th best return on investment.
Fox Valley Technical College Accreditation Details
On July 1, 2016, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) Institutional Actions Council formally notified Fox Valley Technical College that the Level I accreditation status was extended through the next 2025-26 evaluation under President Susan May, EdD, who earned the Thomas Scullen Educational Leadership Award. Located 194 miles south via Interstate 41 in Chicago, Illinois, this giant 19-state Great Lakes Region accreditor is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to review FVTC’s 68 associate degrees and 82 certificate offerings. Further, Fox Valley participates in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA).
Fox Valley Technical College Application Requirements
Getting into Fox Valley Technical College is classified “least selective” by the U.S. News & World Report because 100 percent of the new 6,402 Fall 2018 entrants had open access. First-year Foxes seeking the Accounting AAS or Banking & Financial Services AAS must finish a qualifying high school diploma. Passing GED test scores of 165 or better are eligible. The Business & Industry Services Division requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. SAT subject scores above 450 are mandatory. ACT scores above 17 would be equivalent. If not taken, undergrads must pass the Accuplacer exam. Minimum scores are currently 54 for Reading, 83 for Sentence, 65 for Arithmetic, and 51 for Algebra. Freshmen are also welcome with Next Gen scores of 250 or greater. Maintaining at least 2.0 GPAs in 60+ credits is required for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay transfer track. International students must verify $17,500 in funding and English fluency with 520 TOEFL pBT or 68 TOEFL iBT scores.
Fox Valley Technical College conveniently provides rolling admission into the Accounting & Finance Department. Final deadlines are currently January 7th for Spring or August 13th for Fall starts. Note open registration begins on November 18th and April 29th respectively. Non-U.S. residents must file before October 15th or May 15th. High school senior scholarship programs only run from October 1st to March 6th. Accordingly, complete the FVTC Application online with $30 ($50 if international). Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-20, Fox Valley Technical College is charging Wisconsin residents $154.65 per credit. Non-resident associate tuition is $222.90 per credit. Studying online costs everyone $164.65 per credit. Full-time semester attendance requires about $2,282 to $3,289. FVTC budgets $7,408 annually for off-campus room and board. Students should leave $1,960 for textbooks and $3,710 for personal expenses. Yearly totals for independent students are $17,643 in-state and $19,656 out-of-state. Living with parents/guardians drops the figures to $10,235 and $12,248. Note student orientation courses cost $350. International students are also billed $600 for medical coverage.
According to the NCES College Navigator, the Student Financial Services Office in Appleton Campus Room E118 helps 68 percent of new full-time FVTC Foxes enroll with median tuition aid of $4,669 each for $9.7 million total. Institutional funds include the Bernie Pearlman Memorial Scholarship, Nathan Hintz Family Scholarship, Albert & Mary Rhodes Foundation Scholarship, Culver Memorial Scholarship, Douglas & Mary Hunt Scholarship, Hartling-Carstens Family Scholarship, Verve Credit Union Scholarship, Oshkosh Rotary Club Scholarship, and Richard & Maxine Johnson Scholarship. The $600 AdultStart Scholarship has January 5th, May 18th, and August 6th deadlines for non-traditional students. The Al Zierler Memorial Scholarship gifts $1,000 annually to Accounting AAS or Banking & Financial Services AAS majors. Federal resources, such as the Pell Grant or Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, require FAFSA forms coded 009744.
