The College of Business at Eastern New Mexico University is home to multiple finance degrees. Students who attend Eastern New Mexico University as undergraduates can choose from bachelors of business administration and/or applied arts and sciences in accounting, applied economics and finance, or personal financial planning.
Students can also seek a minor in economics if they are pursuing a degree in another subject. Many students find a liberal arts degree, such as history, philosophy or social science, pairs well with a minor in an economic field for the most flexibility when it comes to future job searches.
A graduate degree is available through the College of Business. Students can earn an MBA where they will study courses like Accounting for Managers, Managerial Economics and Managerial Finance. MBA students can learn even more about finance by declaring a concentration in accounting. This additional nine hours of study adds classes in financial accounting, federal taxation, and attestation.
Eastern New Mexico University offers a dual enrollment program for high school seniors. Students may qualify for this program whether they are in public school, private school or are homeschooled. Most students who are dual-enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University take courses online.
The online campus provides certificate programs as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees. Like the traditional campus, online bachelor’s degrees are offered in accounting, applied economics, and finance and personal financial planning. Students can also achieve an MBA through online study. In addition, students can minor in accounting or finance. Post-graduate students who do not wish to pursue graduate degrees can enter the Financial Planning Certificate Program. This program is offered through the online campus.

Eastern New Mexico University first opened its doors in 1934. It is a federally designated Hispanic serving institution, which means the school receives federal funding for having a significant percentage of Hispanic students.
The main campus is located in Portales, but the school also has campuses in Roswell and Ruidoso. Along with its campus buildings, Eastern New Mexico University boasts one of the world’s largest science fiction libraries, the Jack Williamson Science Fiction Library. The campus is home to four museums: the Dr. Antonio Gennaro Natural History Museum, the Blackwater Draw Museum, the Miles Mineral Museum, and the Miles Anthropology Museum.

Eastern New Mexico University Application Requirements
First-year undergraduate students can complete the online application or download a printable application to mail to the school. Students must also provide official high school transcripts and college entrance test scores.
Prospective graduate students complete the online application. They must have official transcripts forwarded from each school they have previously attended. Each program has its own requirements for entry that may include graduate school entrance test scores, written exams, field exams and letters of recommendation.
Those students who wish to take online courses apply as though they were attending the traditional campus. Therefore, online undergraduate students apply to the undergraduate program at Eastern New Mexico University while online graduate students must follow traditional graduate program requirements.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The cost of attending Eastern New Mexico University as an undergraduate varies depending upon whether the student is a New Mexico resident and if that student chooses to live on campus. New Mexico residents are charged $3,225 per semester for full-time tuition (12 to 18 hours per semester) and student fees. Out-of-state students are charged $4,224 per semester or full-time tuition and fees. The cost to live on campus is $1,783 per semester for a double room or $2,318 for a suite. Meal plans are about $1,800 per semester. Books are determined to cost about $900 per year.
Students who do not attend classes full-time or who wish to take overloads are charged per credit hour. The cost is $268.75 for New Mexico residents and $352 for non-residents. Students who wish to take online courses are charged an extra $17 per credit hour.
Prospective students are asked to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and scholarship applications when they apply to the university. The FAFSA is used to determine if students qualify for need-based grants and scholarships.
Incoming freshmen who are New Mexico residents may qualify for the ENMU Foundation Starter Scholarship. Students with a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher and an ACT of at least 20 can receive this scholarship, which covers the full cost of tuition for the first semester. Students may earn academic scholarships based on their high school grades and ACT scores that range from about $2,400 to about $5,200 per year. Students who maintain their grades throughout their college years may have the award continue for up to four years. Those students with the highest high school grades may receive a scholarship that covers all tuition, residence hall fees and an additional $500 per semester to cover the cost of books and other miscellaneous expenses.
Out-of-state freshmen may receive awards worth $1,000 to $3,000 per year based on high school grades. Students who display excellence in GPA and college entrance test scores may be awarded an out-of-state waiver, which allows them to pay the same rate as New Mexico residents.
Eastern New Mexico University accepts private scholarships to aid in the cost of education. These scholarships are taken into consideration when assessing need-based aid.
Graduate students can receive assistantships of up to $8,500, which is renewable for up to two years. Assistants must work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Other scholarships and grants are available to graduate students based on need. These range in value from $400 to over $11,500.
