Chaired by Dr. Charles Conrick, the BBA in Accounting follows a 121-credit, IACBE-accredited curriculum in North Dakota or online with courses from Income Tax to Business Policy plus for-credit semester internships like Deloitte. Online via Blackboard Collaborate, Dickinson State University delivers a 120-credit BBA in Finance directed by Dr. Amy Kass, the 2017 North Dakota PBL Advisor of the Year Award winner, for 93 percent job placement at First Western Bank, Lazard, Northwestern Mutual, and more. Costing just $331 per credit, the Certified Financial Planner Certification option builds a six-course online sequence of topics like Investment Portfolios to prepare for the seven-hour $695 exam. Headed by Dr. Debora Hansen Dragseth, the Master of Entrepreneurship also offers a 30-credit, HLC-accredited major with eight-week online blocks, such as Financial Budgeting and New Venture Feasibility.
About Dickinson State University
Dickinson State University originated on June 24, 1918, when Superintendent Peter S. Berg welcomed an inaugural class of 104 future teachers to Dickinson State Normal School. In 1924, free education courses were moved from the town’s Elks Building to May Hall. In October 1928, Dickinson State celebrated its first homecoming game and barbecue. Renamed the Dickinson State Teachers College in 1941, it participated in the V-12 Navy Training Program throughout World War II. Dickinson State University Accreditation Details
On August 5, 2015, the Higher Learning Commission on North Central Association (HLC-NCA) Institutional Actions Council sent Dickinson State University an official reaffirmation letter to renew the Level III accreditation through 2024-25 under its 12th president, Dr. Thomas M. Mitzel, who earned the Arthur H. Hughes Award for Excellence in Teaching. Located 930 miles southeast via Interstate 94 in Chicago, Illinois, this gigantic 19-state Great Plains Region accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to review DSU’s four associate, 42 bachelor’s, two master’s, and 10 certificate programs. Particularly, the School of Business & Entrepreneurship was accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) in December 2018.
Dickinson State University Application Requirements
Starting at Dickinson State University is classified “minimally difficult” by Peterson’s because 384 of the 388 Fall 2017 applicants were selected for high 99 percent acceptance. First-year Blue Hawks soaring into the BBA in Accounting or Finance still must finish a strong high school core curriculum or the GED. Cumulative GPAs of 2.0 and higher are required, though the average is 3.28. Freshmen must exceed an 18 ACT or 940 SAT score. The Theodore Roosevelt Honors Program mandates a minimum 3.5 GPA, 26 ACT, or 1770 SAT mark. Non-traditional adults age 25 or older are exempt from testing. Foreign natives are one exception needing at least 55 MELAB, 50 PTE, or 71 TOEFL iBT scores. Bachelor of Business Administration transfers must hold 24+ college credits, including English Composition, at 2.0 GPAs for test waivers. The Master of Entrepreneurship seeks regionally accredited bachelor’s grads who’ve upheld GPAs above 3.0 in the last 60 semester credits. Cohorts must pass the 60-minute $36 ME Peregrine entrance exam using password DSUND-1001 too.
Dickinson State University has rolling admission with domestic deadlines of August 15th for Fall, December 15th for Spring, or April 15th for Summer enrollment. International students must file by July 1st or November 15th. Master of Entrepreneurship majors apply until one month before the term starts. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-20, Dickinson State University is charging full-time North Dakota undergrads $3,383 per semester. The Minnesota Reciprocity Program knocks the cost down to $3,717 per term. Non-resident BBA in Accounting or Finance majors spend $4,773 each semester. International tuition is the highest at $5,189 every term. Institutional awards include the American Bank Center Scholarship, Dakota Community Bank Scholarship, Nodak Sportsman’s Club Scholarship, Gene & Sheila Fisher Scholarship, Dale & Glenice Hansen Scholarship, Dan Stanton Memorial Scholarship, Non-Trad Scholarship, Hawks Are Up Scholarship, Thomas & Rhonda Mitzel Scholarship, and Mary Dolyniuk Rodakowski Scholarship. The Energizing Education Scholarship selects North Dakota or Montana upperclassmen with minimum 2.25 GPAs who write one-page essays. The Heritage Scholarship gifts $1,500 annually to freshmen exceeding 22 ACT or 1020 SAT scores. Federal aid, including Pell Grant and Work-Study Program, eligibility requires FAFSA forms coded 002989. Flickertail State natives can pursue the North Dakota Academic Scholarship, Student Incentive Grant, or Tribal Higher Education Grant. The ND Certified Public Accountants Society also has a December 31st deadline for $1,000 Board of Directors Scholarships.
