Students who want to major in accounting or finance at Chadron State College will enroll in the college’s Business Academy, which offers an undergraduate degree in business with available focuses in accounting and finance. Both bachelor’s degree options require students to complete 120 total credits in essential studies, the major, and electives. Students may also pursue a minor in a related area.
The bachelor’s degree programs may be completed in four years when students enroll in an average of 15 credits each semester. Courses required in both degree paths include Principles of Management, Accounting Principles I, Accounting Principles II, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and Principles of Marketing.

Students who focus on finance during their degree program may become bank officers, stockbrokers, or financial analysts after graduation. Accounting majors may work as financial accountants, tax accountants, or government accountants. While enrolled, students may choose to participate in the Rural Business Leadership Initiative, which can help students pursuing the CPA path in the accounting program.
Students who are unable to earn a 19 or above on the English, reading, and math portions of the ACT my take transitional studies courses until they are able to enroll in college-level writing and math courses. Students are eligible to pursue an internship while enrolled in the bachelor’s degree programs and may also choose to get involved with the college’s student senate and campus activities board. Students may also seek out membership in the local chapter of the International Honor Society in Business, Delta Mu Delta – Kappa Kappa.
Students who are interested in continuing their studies in finance or accounting after receiving their bachelor’s degree may consider the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Chadron State College, which offers several accounting and finance classes that students may take as electives Graduate-level accounting classes include Advanced Financial Accounting and Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting. Finance classes at the graduate level include Finance for Managers and Corporate Finance.
About Chadron State College
Chadron State College is located in Chadron, Nebraska, and is a four-year college in the state’s panhandle region. The college has operated since 1911 in its present form but was built on the site of an existing institution after the Nebraska legislature funded the creation of a state system of schools. The public institution has around 3,000 students attending, and its official colors are cardinal and white.
Chadron State College bears the distinction as the only four-year college that offers graduate degree programs in the western portion of the state. The students are nicknamed the Eagles on their various teams, and they participate in the Rocky Mountain Conference of the NCAA Division II. The campus was almost lost to a large fire known as the Spotted Tail wildfire when dry conditions sparked a huge blaze.
Chadron State College Accreditation Details
Chadron State College has earned accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission, which is an independent organization that ensures degree-granting post-secondary institutions are operating in a manner consistent with collegiate-level operations. Chadron State College Application Requirements
Admission requirements for first-year students at Chadron State College include the completed admission application and submission of official transcripts and test scores. At the conclusion of their high school career, students should have their final transcripts sent from their school to the college. Students may also send a record of having taken the GED. Applicants who have already earned college credits through dual enrollment or early entry programs must send transcripts from all colleges attended.
For graduate students, the application requirements usually vary somewhat and require that the student checks with the specific program they wish to enter. In most circumstances, graduate applications require the completed online application, official transcripts from the institution where the student earned a bachelor’s degree, and official transcripts from all other institutions attended. International applicants may also need to submit additional materials not required of domestic students.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The rate for undergraduate students attending Chadron State College is $296.50 per credit. Part-time enrollment in six credits comes to $1,779.00 per semester, and full-time enrollment in 12 credits is $3,558.00 per semester. For graduate students, the rate is $370.75 per credit hour. Students enrolled in six credits pay $2,224.50, and students who enroll in 12 credits will pay $4,449.00 per semester.
Students may choose to live on campus and pay for a meal plan and a place in a residence hall. The cost for single occupancy is $2,756.00, and the cost for double occupancy is $1,853.00. Private rooms in the Eagle Ridge building are $2,625.00. Enrollees may also choose from four meal plans that vary from $765.00 to $2,025.00 and range from 80 to 280 meals. Students are required to choose one of the school’s meal plans if they live on campus in one of the residence halls.
Students will need to submit a FAFSA form to qualify for financial aid and will receive information on available financial assistance after submitting the form with the federal government. The college will receive the student’s information from the government and will be able to determine what options are available for aid.
Around a third of the students who submit a FAFSA form are selected for verification, which means the student must provide additional information about family income.
