Beacom School of Business
The Beacom School of Business offers 10 bachelor degree programs, three master degree programs, four graduate certificate programs, and two joint degree programs, which allows students to receive both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. The school seeks to develop strong critical thinking skills in students for their use in the real-world. Student involvement in professional organizations and internships is encouraged in order to allow for students to actively use their business knowledge. Ethical behavior is greatly promoted as the students must adhere to a school-specific code of ethics.
Master of Professional Accountancy
This accredited accounting degree program in South Dakota requires students to complete a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours. After completing the program, students would fulfill the 150-hour requirement that’s necessary to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. Students can choose from three program options which include a thesis option, a non-thesis option, or an internship option. All three program options require 21 credits of core courses. The remaining hours are split between electives and credit hours for completing a thesis or internship, if selected. The program’s objectives are to prepare students who are professionally competent and who can make the proper judgments as it pertains to producing and using accounting information.
