Master of Business Administration – Accounting Option

Accredited by the AACSB since 1981, the Master of Business Administration program at Murray State lets students earn excellent management education on-site in Kentucky or 100 percent online from anywhere. For finance specialization, students can select the Accounting Option for 12 credits of electives devoted to technical accounting skills. The seven-course core consists of coursework in accounting, finance, economics, marketing, computer information systems, human resources, and e-business. Only two graduate courses are taken per semester to accommodate full-time working professionals. Once prerequisites are filled, the online MBA can be finished within 18 months. The Accounting Option qualifies graduates for pursuing CPA, CFM, and/or CMA certifications with 150 total higher education credits.

Master’s in Public Financial Management

Launching in Fall 2016, the new Master’s in Public Financial Management program will allow UK graduate students to pursue advanced leadership careers in public finance avenues with training not covered in MPA or MBA curricula. The 36-credit degree includes coursework in public accounting, auditing, municipal securities, investment management, public pensions, insurance planning, and financial analysis. Non-traditional students can complete 100 percent of coursework online for the greatest flexibility. It’s designed to produce mid-level to senior financial managers for public and non-profit organizations rather than corporations. UK is pursuing formal recognition from the Government Financial Officer’s Association (GFOA). There’s also an online Master’s in Applied Statistics for finance majors interested in big data.
